Table Rock Deep Time Hike
(RESCHEDULE TBD)
Lead by Teal Gardner
RSVP: https://forms.gle/nVpBM7eZAuKBDYJX6
Meet at Table Rock Parking Lot for a hike around the trails that lead to Table Rock. We might not make it to the very top, but there are interesting signs of Boise's development and prehistory to be read in the rocks along the way. We will use sensitizing processes to invite our senses into the experience. We will enjoy seeing wildflowers in their early stages of spring growth! Plan for a moderately challenging 3 mile hike with lots of uphill and lots of downhill. In the event of rain or muddy trails we will not be hiking, in an effort to preserve the trails.

Live Meditation
Saturday, April 13, 11:00AM-12:30PM.
Lead by Claire Quade
RSVP: https://forms.gle/h66HqQLs5rsn5mwGA

We will explore two different mindfulness practices during this live meditation. The first practice will be a Walking Meditation (outdoors or indoors depending on weather) and the second practice will be a Dyad Reflection where we will reflect on what brings us happiness. Both meditation practices will be accessible for all bodies, even the walking meditation. Participants will have the option to walk back and forth 10-20 sets indoors or outdoors, stand, sit in a chair, or sit on the ground.

New SUM Game Workshop
Sunday, April 14, 12-4PM.
Lead by Mary K Johnson https://www.acreativeasset.com/
RSVP: https://forms.gle/pj9yc9QyJnAA3YQF6

Please join the Ecogeoglyphic Observatory at our current show Visitors Center at MING Studios on April 14th for an intensive workshop on the New SUM game.

New SUM is a board game created by Mary K Johnson in 2023 in response to the colonial gameplay structure of a popular board game. Mary K has since iterated on it over the course of the last year.

This current version of New SUM encourages players to come prepared with goals for thinking of new structures for human inhabitation of this land that we live in. The game emphasizes collaboration and creative dreaming toward solutions to challenges provided by players themselves.

This 3-part workshop will be an exploration of the questionable roots of some board games, exemplified by the “Idaho Goose game,” and calling participants to think of their own relations to the land through their own memories of important places. The second layer of the workshop involves thinking through enculturation and how people are taught to “know” a place- specifically through Mary K’s own Idaho History project- a binder made following the public school curriculum for 4th graders in Idaho. After much context building, and snack and coffee breaks, the workshop will shift into facilitated gameplay! We will end on a reflection/sharing about the experience.
